David
Beckham, Ronaldihno, and Maradona have helped to make soccer a world famous sport. The
World Cup is broadcasted in many countries around the world and
companies pay millions for a short ad during these types of events. If
you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next David Beckham, then
you should look into getting sponsors now. If you do happen to make it
big, don’t forget about the people who sponsored you at the beginning
and helped you get there. Here are a couple ways to get soccer
sponsorships.
1. Soccer clubs are in many cities around the world and often offer
incentives to top players. While you may have to try out to get into
famous soccer clubs, if you do get in, it will be well worth it. Not
only do these top clubs pay for many players expenses, but they will
probably offer you a salary as well. Local soccer clubs might be a way
to get your foot in the door, so to speak. By practicing, you’ll become a
better player. And in addition, soccer scouts often come to games and
will be able to see what you’ve got to offer.
2. Soccer scouts can make even the most confident players nervous and
drop the ball. However, they can be indispensable for getting a good
contract. Since you will probably be busy before the game, try talk to
them after the game. Introduce yourself and say that you’re glad to meet
them, and try to get their business card as well. While hassling scouts
is not recommended, you should try to at least introduce yourself. Don’t
turn up your nose at any scout. By being polite and courteous to all of
them, you’ll increase your chances of getting sponsored by a big school
or club.
3. Companies that produce
soccer merchandise is a logical place to look for sponsorship.
There’s nothing like getting something for free, no matter how big or
small. Talk to the smaller sporting goods
stores in your town and ask if they’d be willing to sponsor you,
whether by paying for some of your soccer club fees or offering you
merchandise. If they do offer you something, don’t forget to say thanks.
A nice gift would be an autograph. You’ll find that they’ll probably
post it prominently in their store.
