How To Get Acting Sponsorships

Actors and actresses move to Hollywood, Paris, New York, and other major international cities to pursue their dreams of acting.

Far too often, actors and actresses find out that their dreams can turn to disaster.  To prevent your dreams of becoming a successful actor it's important to find sponsors to help you secure your financial success.  There are three types of sponsors every actor should be pursuing when trying to find financial support:

1.  Actor Housing - when moving to a major city to find a sponsor for your acting career find an organization or individual that is willing to provide for your housing.  In West Hollywood, California there are many residential buildings that cater to aspiring actors and actresses.  However, keep in mind that these situations are not free.  I recommend that before moving to Hollywood you try and find someone in the Hollywood Hills that is looking for a part time housekeeper and house sitter.  Many wealthy individuals in premium residential areas of LA are looking for assistance in their homes.  In return for providing for their living needs they can provide you with a wonderful home and free rent to pursue your acting career.

2.  Movie Studios - most movie studios don't sponsor aspiring actors and actresses.  However, it's not unheard of and was quite common practice in the days of Howard Hughes and other high profile producers and directors.  You have to think outside the box when approaching movie studio executives for sponsorships.  If you can show the movie studio that you are talented enough to be placed in a major motion picture they most likely still won't provide you with any financial assistance.  The key to getting movie studios to assist you is to tap into the power of social networking and marketing.  Movie studios have talent acquisition departments and they are always in need of finding aspiring actors and actresses.  By using your thousands of friends on facebook and myspace, you can possibly attract sponsorship dollars in return for helping them find the exact type of actor or actress they are looking for.

3.  Investors - did your aunt, uncle, or ex-boss ever want to try to become a famous actor or actress.  Well they may have never succeeded, but it doesn't mean they won't consider helping you achieve your dreams - for a price of course.  It's fairly common for many actors who wanted to become famous to seek out investors before trying to "make it" in Hollywood and abroad in movies and television.  Actors today can sign a movie for $20 million or more, and for $100,000 that an investor might have to put up, it can be quite a lucrative investment.  But remember, "stay small and stay in business."  You are not entitled to blow your investors money on frivolous things such as: expensive rent, clothing, partying, or vacations.  Investor money for your acting sponsorship should be applied towards acting lessons, acting networking events, transportation to auditions, and your bare minimum necessities to make it in show business.
