How To Get Figure Skating Sponsorships

It’s amazing to watch slim figure skaters when they perform.  Similar to gymnasts, they are able to leap and spin in the air.  While they make it look easy, it requires a lot of strength and practice to do what they do.  In addition, it’s not without its risks.  They fly through the air with no helmet or pads.  Nonetheless, it’s a popular sport with both men and women.  If you’ve been training to be a figure skater, then you should look into taking it to the next level by finding a sponsor.  If you’ve been figure skating for a bit, you’ll know that it doesn’t come cheap.  Travelling to events, coaches, gym membership, and customs all add up.  This is why you need a sponsor to help you with these costs.  If this sounds like something you’d like to do, then read the three tips below.

First you should go to the press.  As mentioned above, many people love watching skating and you could use that to your advantage.  Go to a couple of local newspaper offices and invite them to your next skating performance.  Having the media sponsor you is one of the best sponsorships you can find.  By putting your name in print, you’ll get noticed by people all over.  If you can get them to put a photo in as well, then you’re on your way to finding even more sponsors.

Go to skating shops and ask them if they’d like to sponsor you.  Bring a sponsorship proposal letter so that they can see that you’re committed to figure skating and your sponsors as well.  Figure skating sponsorship from shops takes on many different forms.  Getting free or discounted figure skating gear is one of the most common.  Another is being given access to skating equipment before others get it.

The last way to get sponsorship is probably one of the easiest. If you’re at a skating rink, you’ve probably noticed the little children practicing there.  Offer your services as a long time figure skater.  Let them know that you can help coach their children, put together routines or even give private lessons.  If you do this, you might want to ask permission from the ice rink manager first.

If this sounds like something that interests you, consider contacting one of our sponsorship consultants to find out more information.
